Yarmouth schedules three "muck-around" meetings to gather ideas for Mattakis site planning

Bill Scott (via email to staff) and town staff told the committee that the plan is to hold separate “muck-around” brainstorming sessions so local businesses and a community design group can each generate ideas independently; the groups will then reconvene in later sessions to refine and select concepts. Mary explained the first meeting will be Jan. 27 in the Yarmouth Police Department meeting room at 5 p.m., the second Feb. 24 also at YPD, and the third March 31 in the Hearing Room.
Why it matters: Committee members said separate initial sessions are intended to surface a wide range of ideas from business owners and residents, then narrow choices in joint meetings. Cathy (a staff member credited with preparing analysis) prepared a packet of site constraints and design notes that committee members described as useful for the group sessions.
Committee members encouraged transparency and public comment at the housing and design meetings and noted the housing committee will also conduct site visits on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24; staff said they would circulate meeting agendas and requested materials in advance and add content to the town’s project website so citizens can review background documents prior to the sessions. The committee requested a simple form-based submission for ideas so staff can collect and share suggestions prior to the meetings.
