Yarmouth committee approves $40,000 for Sand Sculpture Trail, shifts events funding to cover deposit

The Yarmouth Community and Economic Development Committee voted Jan. 14 to approve $40,000 for the annual Sand Sculpture Trail to secure the event and cover the artists’ deposit.

The request was presented by Mary, a town staff member, who said, “I did submit, to the committee a request for the Sand Sculpture Trail for $40,000. That is the standard request each year for this particular initiative.” The committee discussed funding sources, the program’s timing and how to make the payment without disrupting other event budgets.

Why it matters: The Sand Sculpture Trail is the Chamber’s largest marketing initiative for Yarmouth and requires an early deposit to secure the principal sand sculptor.
