The Yarmouth Planning Board on March 5 nominated Planning Board member Susan Bridal to serve as the board’s representative on the Select Board–established Library Building Committee, and confirmed members’ current town committee assignments.
Chair Joanne Crowley said the library committee’s schedule is “gonna be a very aggressive timeline that will require a real commitment of time between now and the end of the year.” Crowley said the committee’s milestones include site selection through April and schematic design April through November, driven by state grant deadlines.
Nut graf: The board voted to forward the nomination to the Select Board for formal appointment and locked in existing committee assignments for the Planning Board’s members while noting the library committee will require extra time from its appointee because of state-driven deadlines.
Board members reviewed assignments one-by-one. Crowley said she intended to remain on the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) and recommended Deidre Gaquin take Crowley’s seat on the Community Housing Committee so Crowley could stay on CPC. Will Rubenstein, Jim Lamb and others expressed interest in or willingness to help the library committee; Rubenstein noted different ways community members can serve without the Planning Board appointment.
Kathy (staff) and Crowley reminded members the Planning Board’s appointment is a recommendation and that the Select Board will formally vote appointments at its March 17 meeting; newly recommended appointees were encouraged to attend initial committee meetings even before formal appointment.
Motion and vote: A motion to nominate Susan Bridal to the library building committee was made, seconded, and approved. The board then moved to other business.
Ending: Crowley said the board will revisit committee assignments in the fall when annual reshuffling typically occurs and reiterated the library committee’s time demands. The Planning Board will forward the nomination and background materials to the Select Board for formal appointment.
