The Old Kings Highway Committee of the Town of Yarmouth voted to approve an application to install solar panels at 1 Flat Rock Way at its March 10, 2025, hearing.
Richard Gross, who identified himself as the homeowner—s husband and representative for Nancy Gross, told the committee a new roof will be installed as part of the solar project and that the number of panels is sized to support a planned second phase to convert the house to electric heating and water heating. "The new roof is being done as part of the installation ... the number of panels is because the second phase of this that we would like to do is to convert to, heat pump electric HVAC system and also electric water heating," Gross said.
Committee members asked the roof color; Gross replied the roof will be black. The agent listed on the agenda, Skyline Solar LLC, did not appear at the hearing.
With no comments from abutters or other members of the public, a motion to approve application 25-A026 was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The committee chair reminded the applicant that decisions are subject to a 10-calendar-day appeal period and appeal to the Regional Commission of the Old Kings Highway Historic District.
No conditions beyond those recorded in the approval were noted on the record.
