District unveils integrated grants application; seeks public comment before April vote

Oregon City School District staff presented an overview of the district’s integrated grants application Monday, describing the process used to build needs assessments and the programmatic priorities the funds would support.
The presenter said the application combines Statewide Strategies (SIA), High School Success (HSS), Perkins career-technical education funds, early literacy and a small early intervention systems allocation. The district solicited wide input through staff and community meetings, data reviews and an online survey to identify needs in reading, math, behavior supports and career/college readiness.
The presenter provided preliminary allocation figures during a question period: High School Success was listed at about $1,815,559; SIA at $6,862,705; early literacy at $503,178. Staff noted those are preliminary allocations and the final budget will be submitted with the April application. The presenter said ODE typically reviews applications and will ask for clarifications; the district expects to work collaboratively with ODE if the state requests revisions.
The application emphasizes: increasing third-grade reading proficiency, improving eighth-grade math outcomes, expanding college and career readiness (including CTE pathways and articulation with Clackamas Community College), strengthening family engagement and targeted supports for focal student groups. Staff said the grant’s reporting includes quarterly progress updates and an annual outcomes report and that the district has drafted theories of action tying investments to expected student outcomes.
The board will receive the full application materials on the district website and will vote on the application at the April 14 board meeting; the window for submission to the state ends April 30.
