“During the budget process, the budget committee does ensure proposed budget aligns with priorities established by the board,” the Budget officer said, explaining meeting rules and timelines and noting that the committee “cannot deliberate on the budget document before the first formal budget meeting on May 21.”
The district’s budget presentation laid out the key drivers of next year’s revenue and expenditures and the scenarios staff are modeling. State school fund distributions—driven by the district’s weighted average daily membership (ADMW)—and the legislature’s actions on the special-education “11% cap” are two of the largest uncertainties.
