District construction manager briefs board on stadium, school and playground projects

The Oldham County Schools construction manager briefed the Board of Education Monday on active capital projects, including stadium upgrades at multiple high schools, work at Oldham County High School and a multi‑phase renovation at South Oldham High School.

Mister Bohannon told the board grading and drainage, fencing and concrete work are under way at North Oldham’s stadium and tennis courts, and the scoreboard structure has been installed. He said Oldham County High School’s auditorium light and sound improvements were in final stages with owner training moved to Feb. 28, and that the alumni plaza and brick veneer seawall work is in progress.

The South Oldham High School renovation and addition is in the construction‑document phase, Bohannon said, and the board had been asked to add a supplemental consent item to select a construction manager for the project to help coordinate final documents and minimize disruption while the school remains operational.

Buckner campus projects include a new gymnasium, an alternative school space, a daycare facility and a new connection to Oldham County High School; Bohannon said construction fencing is up and work is moving forward. Oldham County Preschool is nearing substantial completion, and multiple elementary schools have playground and site work in progress; La Grange’s playground is complete with punch list items outstanding.

Bohannon told the board recent weather had slowed progress and asked for dry weather to make up time; board members asked one question about the location of a basketball court at Locust Grove, which Bohannon said would be adjacent to the parking lot in a grass area.

The construction update was presented as part of the instructional session and consent agenda materials available to the board.
