Board approves calendar amendment; district sets high-school graduation dates

The Fayette County Board of Education on Monday approved an amendment to the 2024-25 instructional calendar that sets the last day of classes and allowed staff to publish graduation dates for all county high schools.
District staff member Steve Hill said the calendar amendment is a formal ratification of actions taken during the year and that the last day of school will be May 28. "You'll notice that the last day of school will be the, May or excuse me, May 28," Hill said during the presentation. He also said the district met the threshold requirement for 170 instructional days.
Following the calendar vote, district staff announced graduation dates and times at Rupp Arena: Frederick Douglass High School (May 29, 10 a.m.), Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (May 29, 2 p.m.), Henry Clay High School (May 29, 6 p.m.), Tates Creek High School (May 30, 10 a.m.), Bryan Station High School (May 30, 2 p.m.), and Lafayette High School (May 30, 6 p.m.).
The board approved the calendar amendment by voice vote with the result recorded as 4-0.
