Board approves curriculum purchase, facilities contracts and policy actions in unanimous votes

The Kansas City, Kansas Board of Education on March 25 approved multiple procurement contracts and policy changes, including a $1,183,314.80 purchase of Carnegie Learning curriculum for Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II and several facilities contracts for summer repairs and upgrades.

Board members voted unanimously on every recorded roll call for these items. The board’s recorded members at the meeting were Yolanda Clark, Maxine Drew, Randy Lopez, Robert Mylan Jr., Wanda Brownlee Page, Rachel Russell and Doctor Wynne; each is recorded as voting yes on the items listed below.

The board approved the following motions and contract awards during the meeting:

- Approve amendment to the 2023–2025 negotiated agreement (Agenda item 5a). Motion was moved and seconded; the board recorded a unanimous vote to approve the amendment.

- Approve purchase of Carnegie Learning curriculum for Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II in the amount of $1,183,314.80, funded by the curriculum and instruction budget (Agenda item 5b). The motion passed on a recorded unanimous roll-call vote.

- Accept low bid from Sorella Group for toilet partition replacement at various locations in the amount of $160,948…
