The committee voted unanimously March 27 to award the district’s extended‑day after‑school contract to the YMCA of the North Shore after a request‑for‑proposal (RFP) process.
Director of Finance and Operations Miss Stella said two formal proposals were received — from the incumbent YMCA and from AlphaBest — and that evaluators judged the YMCA the most responsible and advantageous proposer. The recommended contract term runs Sept. 1, 2025, through Aug. 31, 2028, with the district holding a sole option to extend for one or two additional years.
Miss Stella and committee members discussed operational continuity across three school buildings and confirmed the new term will follow the district’s academic year cycle. A committee member asked whether the contract’s start and end dates were consistent with school opening dates; staff confirmed the existing extension covers the district through the prior August and the new contract starts Sept. 1.
The vote was unanimous. Committee members said they welcome continuity in after‑school services and asked staff to monitor service levels and enrollment under the new contract.
