Dickinson High School demolition begins; district says public updates posted weekly

Doctor Lee gave the Dickinson Public School District board a progress update on the Dickinson High School rebuild, saying demolition began March 30 and weekly status reports are posted on the district website.
Lee told the board that most trees in the work area have been removed and the greenhouse building that doubled as a maintenance shed was taken down. During site work crews uncovered an old underground diesel tank; the district engaged the Department of Health to test the soil around the tank, Lee said.
Work will continue with further excavation in the coming weeks. Lee said the district plans to move the maintenance shop into the 700 Pond building temporarily and hopes to relocate it later into the yellow building when space is available.
The board received the update as an informational item; no formal action was taken.
