Board approves K–5 attendance boundaries, Hagan project scope and superintendent contract

On a motion and second, the board approved Draft 3 of the district’s K–5 boundary map for the 2026–27 school year. Board members cast their votes by roll call; Wheeler, Swint, Kilgore, Junt, Barsch and Renner each recorded “aye.” Board discussion before the vote focused on survey results, neighborhood integrity and capacity constraints; consultants and administration told the board the district lacks spare elementary capacity and that about half of current students would attend a different building under the new map.
The board also approved Amendment No. 2 to the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the Hagan project, accepting the base bid and selected alternates (including Alternate 2 — DOAS/rooftop unit for classroom ventilation — and Alternate 5 — a deduct to remove an identified rooftop unit). The amendment raised the deferred-maintenance contract value and added construction scope the board tied to improved classroom ventilation and other upgrades.
Finally, trustees unanimously approved the contract for Dr. Jason Jermison as superintendent. Board members praised Jermison’s collaborative approach and tied his initial pay increase to the teachers’ collective bargaining percentage, a move board members said was intended to align district leadership with classroom staff priorities.

Board members and the consultant who led the boundary process, Rob Schwartz of RSP, emphasized this is the first step in multi-year facilities planning that includes the new elementary opening in 2026–27 and further capacity work. Schwartz noted the plan intentionally seeks compact neighborhood attendance areas and said the district should monitor development and enrollment changes that could require boundary adjustments.
