Middle school student council reports fundraisers, food drive and plans spring dance

Students in the Lewis Central Middle School Student Council presented accomplishments and upcoming plans to the district Board of Directors on March 17, highlighting fundraisers, a food drive and a planned spring dance.
Student leaders said the council raised about $150 from a seasonal “BooGram” fundraiser, collected 587 cans for the Thriving Titans food drive and ran a door-decorating contest and spirit-week activities. The council described a plan to hold a spring school dance; students proposed a modest admission charge and said proceeds would support future student-council activities. Board members and staff praised the students’ initiative and offered financial and logistical support.
“I was so impressed with your students and their focus,” a board member said after the presentation, noting a recent middle-school performance where student leaders helped keep the assembly orderly. Student council sponsor Ms. Mendoza and Dr. Reynolds praised the students’ leadership and preparations.
Student presenters named in the meeting: Jada Long (student-council president), Olivia Zoralski (vice president), Bella Floyd (student council member) and additional council members who described event plans and volunteer roles. The council said they plan teacher-appreciation activities, another food-drive push at the end of the year and a middle-school dance with chaperones and entry rules that would exclude students with major referrals.
Board members offered comments of support during the meeting; one trustee said he would donate funds if needed to get the dance started. Administrators said they will discuss event approval and logistics with school leadership and will return to the board with any items requiring formal approval.
