Cedar Hill ISD introduces Lt. Jaquisha Jones as new police lieutenant

Cedar Hill ISD trustees introduced Lieutenant Jaquisha Jones as the district's new police lieutenant at the March board meeting. Jones joined the Cedar Hill ISD Police Department in April 2024 after nearly 20 years with the Arlington Police Department, the board was told.

A presenter summarized Jones's background, saying she has experience in active-shooter and crowd-response teams, community policing, youth engagement and special-event planning, and that she helped implement a Walmart restorative-justice program now in use at many stores. The presenter also noted Jones's degrees and credentials: a B.A. in psychology from Texas Wesleyan University, a master's in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Texas at Arlington and candidacy for a doctoral degree; she also holds a Master Peace Officer certification.

Jones addressed trustees directly, saying she considers it "an honor and a privilege" to serve and thanked Chief Hawthorne for mentorship. "I wake up every day to serve, educate, and empower," Jones said. She told trustees she looks forward to listening and learning and to supporting campus safety.

The introduction also included a brief list of awards and commendations from Jones's career and a note that she serves as an executive pastor at her church and has volunteered extensively in the DFW area. The board did not take separate action on the introduction; the item was recorded as part of the superintendent's report and personnel introductions.
