Cedar Hill ISD Updates Family‑Engagement Calendar, Volunteer Programs and Care Closets

The presenter said the district runs 15 active district‑based community groups and highlighted planned events: a back‑to‑school rally scheduled for Aug. 2 at Collegiate Prep Academy; a Season of Giving program in which the district partnered with the Marine Corps, Target, the Cedar Hill Education Foundation and the city fire department to provide toys and gift cards to about 1,800 families; and a student‑recognition event moving to the PAC on May 19 to accommodate larger attendance.
Other initiatives described included a Digital Parent University (on‑demand recorded sessions for parent education), an attendance campaign called Horn Show Up with incentives and posters, an enrollment fair to give families an alternative to last‑minute registration, and a teachers’ supply closet that the presenter said will move to a digital ordering form so teachers can request supplies year‑round.
The presenter said the district has roughly 80 volunteers signed up and will host a volunteer breakfast the next day at the TLC; the Launch and Learn outreach to local businesses will include a session with the Chamber of Commerce to help local firms learn how to become district vendors. The presenter also reported recent voter registration work: she said a Dallas County Delta Sigma Theta alumni chapter helped 63 seniors register; she later added that Alpha Kappa Alpha registered an additional 40 students at an earlier event and provided corrected figures to trustees during discussion.
Trustees praised the outreach and asked staff to share campus attendance plans and any attendance‑improvement programs being used by individual campuses. Staff said they will provide those campus attendance plans to trustees.
