Plano ISD board unanimously nominates Teresa Williams for Texas superintendent of the year

The Plano ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution at its April 8 meeting to nominate Dr. Teresa Williams for the Texas Association of School Administrators 2025 Superintendent of the Year award.
Board President Nancy Humphrey presented the resolution, and Board Secretary Tara Lance read its text, which cited Williams' leadership since June 1, 2022, the district's academic performance, a six-year graduation roadmap, community engagement and long-range facility planning as reasons for the nomination.
Trustee Angela Powell moved to approve the resolution and Trustee Catherine Goodwin seconded. The motion passed by a unanimous show of hands.
Board members praised Williams' approach in both crisis and routine work. Trustee Lauren Tyra said the superintendent's engagement with the board is "attentive and intentional," and Trustee Michael Cook praised the district's transparency and data-driven outcomes. Williams told the board she was "incredibly humbled" by the nomination and thanked staff and the community.
The nomination will be forwarded to the Texas Association of School Administrators for consideration in the statewide superintendent of the year process.
