District reports intruder‑audit results and says it is fully CIPA‑compliant; cybersecurity officer cites reduced phishing risk

Victoria ISD reported results of 14 unannounced intruder detection audits and presented an update on compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and district cybersecurity practices at the Feb. 20 meeting.

Safety audit findings

District safety staff said the Texas Education Agency and the Texas School Safety Center have conducted 14 unannounced intruder audits in the district since September; 12 audits produced no findings, and one campus had a single unsecured door finding which the district addressed with targeted training and corrective measures. Staff said the door was secured and follow‑up walks showed the issue was resolved.

CIPA and cybersecurity update

The district cybersecurity officer reported VISD is fully compliant with CIPA. The officer said annual cybersecurity training for staff and monthly trainings have reduced employee phishing susceptibility by as much as 90 percent and that the district’s network defends against thousands of suspect emails daily. The cybersecurity officer cautioned no system can guarantee 100 percent security but said the district uses industry‑standard protections and continues to update protocols.
