The Fate City Council recessed into executive session at 7:33 p.m. on April 7 to discuss economic development negotiations (Project Cactus), deliberations about acquiring property owned by Blackland Water Supply Corporation on North Ben Payne Road, and attorney consultation regarding the Monterra development under Texas Government Code sections 551.087 (economic development), 551.072 (real property) and 551.071 (consultation with attorney).
Earlier in public comment a resident asked whether the closed-session topic concerning Monterra involved pending litigation or a conflict-of-interest matter. City staff replied that the posted executive-session authorities “speak for themselves” and confirmed the council was permitted to meet in closed session to receive legal advice. Staff also reminded the public that lawsuits are public records once filed.
The council did not take any public action on those items before entering executive session; any final votes or actions that require public notice must be taken in open session after the closed meeting.
