Summary
Council approved repairs to a slope mower (unit 0238) by King Ranch Ag & Turf for an amount not to exceed $14,945.02 after staff explained the vehicle’s hydraulic-pump failure and the long lead time for replacement equipment.
The City of Santa Fe approved repairs to slope mower unit 0238 on Jan. 23, authorizing up to $14,945.02 to King Ranch Ag & Turf, Public Works superintendent Bill told the council.
Bill said the tractor’s internal hydraulic pump failed and that replacing it requires removing the slope-mower unit from the tractor; the quote from the service provider included substantial labor charges. He said the unit is older and that new replacement tractors have long lead times (months), so repairing the existing machine is the most immediate option to maintain operations.
Council members asked about alternative vendors and labor estimates. One council member expressed concern that the quoted labor portion was high and requested an itemized, hourly breakdown and a timeline for completion; staff said they would obtain additional details and a timeline. The motion to approve the expenditure passed by roll call (four yes, one no).
