County advertises RFP for 6 Mile Creek stream‑corridor study — the City of Ithaca’s drinking‑water source

Tompkins County planning staff told the Planning, Energy and Environmental Quality Committee on April 14 that the county has advertised a request for proposals (RFP) to complete a stream‑corridor analysis for 6 Mile Creek, the drinking‑water supply for the City of Ithaca.
Darby Kiley, Department of Planning and Sustainability, said the RFP was advertised in accordance with county procurement policy O607. The study scope calls for professional services to perform a stream‑corridor analysis; Kiley said the qualifications requested reflect the requirements of the county’s contract with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and recent state guidance on flood resilience and climate‑adapted assessments.
Kiley told the committee that one prior 6 Mile Creek study was completed in February 2005 but that the pending study follows a newer state template that collects different information, including climate resilience and flood considerations. Kiley said the proposals were advertised on March 31 and proposals were due “on the thirtieth” per the memo in the committee packet; staff said they will notify the committee when a contractor is selected and the award is made.
No committee action was required at the April 14 meeting; staff said they will report the award and contract at a future meeting once procurement is complete.
