The Public Works and Capital Projects Committee voted on numerous routine capital, contract and equipment items at its April 7 meeting. The following resolutions were approved; where the meeting recorded a vote, the outcome is noted.
- Resolution 132: Approve DASNY work order for design/testing/construction services for roof replacements at SUNY Ulster (Clinton Hall, DeWitt Library). Motion moved by Legislator Litts; approved unanimously.
- Resolution 134: Approve DASNY work order for internal water service line assessment and related capital project (county share $135,714). Approved unanimously.
- Resolution 161: Amend capital project 482, countywide radio system; accept 2024 statewide interoperable communications grant and allocate $~552,000 for subscriber equipment. Approved unanimously.
- Resolution 166: Amend capital project for jail equipment (washers); approved unanimously.
- Resolutions 167–170: Miscellaneous Sheriff’s Office equipment purchases and upgrades including jet skis, mountain bikes and trailers (Resolution 167, $213,773 in this resolution), Axon taser program funding over five years (Resolution 168, first-year allocation $130,816; committee recorded a 4–1 vote with one 'no' from Legislator McCullough on Resolution 168), navigation boat replacement (Resolution 169, $65,886), and Vesta 911 upgrade (Resolution 170). Resolutions 167, 169 and 170 passed unanimously; Resolution 168 passed 4–1.
- Resolution 179: Pavement preservation appropriation, $650,000. Approved unanimously.
- Resolution 180: Big Pond Bridge replacement (Town of Hardenburgh), estimated $550,000; designation as SEQRA Type II. Approved unanimously.
- Resolution 181: Award contract to MJ Engineering & Land Surveying, PC for design, ROW, construction inspection services for Big Pond Bridge (estimated $523,000). Approved unanimously.
- Resolutions 182–184: Contract amendments and new contract awards for slope stabilization, bridge construction administration, and shotcrete services (contract amounts and expanded scopes noted in resolutions); all approved unanimously. A shotcrete demonstration was offered by staff.
- Resolution 186: Authorize chair to accept a NYS OPRHP grant for the Matthew S. Peterson House Renovation Project (approximately $558,232, about half the project cost). Approved unanimously.
- Additional smaller amendments and capital project adjustments related to building equipment and pavement projects were approved; most passed unanimously. Where committee members declared conflicts of employment, abstentions were recorded on certain contract votes (noted above for GOC contracts and some GOC-related votes).
