Votes at a glance: Washington County supervisors approve wide slate of routine resolutions, set aside rules for several items
Summary
At the March 21 meeting the Washington County Board approved a large group of routine resolutions including vehicle bid awards, budget amendments, grant applications and carryovers; two resolutions addressing governor's Executive Order 47.3 were introduced but action on litigation was handled by executive-session motion later in the meeting.
The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a broad package of routine resolutions on March 21, 2025, covering vehicle bid awards, Department of Public Works contracts, budget amendments, grant applications and grant carryover items.
Highlights of actions recorded during the meeting include:
- Resolutions 60–63, (DPW and Sheriff vehicle/mini-bid awards) were moved and carried by voice votes. - Resolution 64 (SEQR lead agency for Sewer District No. 2 PCAB project) was adopted; the board indicated it would revisit SEQR questions in more detail at a future meeting. - Resolution 66 (adopt district attorney's 2025 crime forfeiture spending plan) and 67 (design memorandum with the Association on Aging in New York) were approved. - Resolutions 69–76 and 79–86 (various budget amendments, grant carryovers, and program funding items for public health, mental health, sheriff operations, board of elections, community college chargebacks, county clerk grants and criminal justice services) were moved and adopted by the board, typically by voice vote; several items prompted short discussions on funding sources and program mandates. - Resolution 88 (amend 2025 budget for public-safety responder health program) and Resolution 89 (authorize chairman to apply for a Northern Border Regional Commission grant) were moved and recorded as adopted during the meeting.
Two resolutions addressing Governor Kathy Hochul’s Executive Order 47.3 were read earlier in the agenda:
- Resolution 90 expressed opposition to Executive Order 47.3 (issued 03/10/2025) and urged its rescission; the resolution text described concerns about limits on hiring people formerly employed by the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
- Resolution 91 authorized the county attorney to commence litigation related to Executive Order 47.3 on behalf of the county as the attorney deems appropriate.
The board later moved into executive session "for the purpose of discussing proposed litigation;" the public portion of the meeting ended after the motion to enter executive session was approved.
The clerk recorded motions, seconds and voice/roll-call votes where applicable; routine items were largely approved without extended debate. The county will post resolutions and supporting documents with the clerk’s office and on the county website.
