Cassie Boudreaux, speaking for the Assumption Area Chamber of Commerce, reviewed the chamber’s quarterly activity including their February banquet, a quarterly newsletter and plans for a strategic plan and legislative luncheon. The committee approved the chamber’s first‑quarter allocation and granted a discount on the community center rental for the chamber’s 2026 banquet.
The committee approved an authorization for the Office of Special Assistance and Preparedness (OSAP) director to purchase a new emergency response vehicle through a $50,000 state bid contract to be funded from the Special Industry Fund. The OSAP director said existing vehicle repairs were delayed and the state bid price would be necessary to avoid a months‑long wait for replacement parts; the total with equipment and installation is roughly $55,000 according to staff.
The committee also approved a one‑time $15,000 allocation to set up network/telephony equipment and cabling for the judge division office (computers/copier/telephone) and a recurring monthly budget of $480 for Internet and phone service ($350/month Internet, $130/month phone). The committee authorized renewing preventative‑maintenance contracts for generators and chillers.
A proposed purchase of a KCX 130 excavator (approximate price in packet) was discussed; the committee tabled that item to the next regular meeting pending additional demo time for the machine and clarification on budget split between Road & Bridge and Drainage.
