Davenport City CAC elevates Adela Rasso to chair; Johnson elected vice chair

The Davenport City Citizens Advisory Committee on April 7 approved Adela Rasso to finish the current chair’s partial term and elected Lauren Johnson as vice chair.

The committee, which had a quorum for the meeting called to order by Don Ovalton, followed the CAC bylaws that allow the vice chair to step into the chair role when the incumbent steps down. Heather, a staff member for the CAC, said the previous chair stepped down because of a conflict related to a new job with a subrecipient and that serving a partial term “does not count against the 2 term limit.”

At the meeting Hodges moved to nominate Adela Rasso for chair; the motion was seconded and the committee voted to open, close and then approve nominations. The committee also nominated and elected Lauren Johnson as vice chair after a separate nomination and vote. The committee approved the minutes of the March 3, 2025 meeting by voice vote.

The actions were handled by voice vote; the record shows motions carried but does not include a roll-call tally of yes/no votes in the transcript. The committee followed the procedural steps Heather outlined: a vote to open nominations, nominations, a vote to close nominations and a final approval vote for each office.

The appointments take effect immediately to fill the remainder of the current term, which staff said runs through March 2026.
