The Mississippi Public Service Commission approved LCI Connections’ application for a certificate of public necessity (CPN) to provide facilities-based and resale competitive local exchange and interexchange telecommunications services throughout the state.
Mister Jones presented the item, saying LCI filed Dec. 3, 2024, and plans to provide turnkey secure dark fiber services to enterprise and carrier customers, with an emphasis on data centers. Staff reviewed LCI’s application, exhibits and responses to data requests and concluded LCI appears to possess the technical, financial and managerial capabilities to provide the requested services. Staff recommended approval, finding the company’s entry would strengthen competition and contribute to development of the state’s telecommunications infrastructure.
There were no questions from commissioners and the chair moved the item to a vote; the motion to approve the application was seconded and carried in open session.
