The Ames Parks and Recreation Commission voted to recommend that City Council approve the Ames JC’s request to stage Ames on the Half Shell concerts at Banshee Hill Park on five Fridays in May and June with alcohol served and with two fees waived.
Staff described the request and the history of the Ames JC events, saying organizers already receive discounts and staff recommended the standard option (alternative 1). The commission moved to approve staff’s recommendation and, after a voice vote, the motion carried.
Staff noted the JC’s donate proceeds back to the community and that Parks and Recreation has previously benefited from their contributions. The motion asks council to allow alcohol at Banshee Hill Park during the events and to waive payment of the $1 facility fee and the $10 gross sales fee for beverage and concession sales.
No roll‑call vote was recorded; the minutes show a voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried. The recommendation will be forwarded to City Council for final approval.
