Rules Committee member Salay moved to accept the proposed changes “for article 4 membership and, section e and article 4 membership section h.” A committee member seconded the motion. Rules Committee member Harmsen said, “I have no, I've looked them over. I think they make sense. I think it makes sense to give people a little time after they get on the commission in order to, you know, feel comfortable either stepping up into a, a, a, a greater role, or knowing who they'd like to, vote for that. And I think the, changing the language on the other 1 from unexplained absences to absences without prior notification makes sense as well.” An unnamed committee member also indicated support, saying the committee should decide what works for them.
The committee recorded the motion as passing 2 to 0. City Attorney Goers and City Clerk Grace were present for the meeting but did not cast votes on the bylaw amendment.
The meeting concluded shortly after the vote.
