Sioux City Council interviewed Reagan Cody, a representative of Downtown Partners, for an open seat on the Parking and Skywalk Board during the council meeting. Cody described recent skywalk lighting work and said Downtown Partners has an automatic seat on the board as part of membership requirements.
Cody told the council, “We just put in some lights. I’d love to see that continue and see if that works out. They’re in the bridge over Nebraska Street right now between Fourth.” The applicant said she and the board gather feedback from downtown businesses and property owners and use that input to plan projects.
Council members asked whether lights could be placed so they are more visible to drivers. Cody said the lights installed inside the skywalk “didn’t glow as much as I think I had hoped,” and that different placement or downlighting might improve visibility. One council member suggested running lights along the exterior steel so they show up from a distance; Cody said she would discuss the idea with the holiday chair and consider adding exterior lighting.
No formal appointment was made during the interview segment of the meeting. The council moved on to the consent agenda after the interview.
