Board renames Parent Partnership program "Meadowbrook School"

The Snoqualmie Valley School District board voted unanimously on April 10 to rename the Parent Partnership and online program "Meadowbrook School."

Meredith, the program leader, presented the renaming request and said the program has grown from a small, one‑room model to serving roughly 220–230 students, with about half enrolled online. "We're serving 48 seniors this year," she said, noting the program had its first diploma graduates last year and that a school name would help build identity and community pride.

The program convened a naming committee of parents, students and staff that gathered suggestions, ran surveys and narrowed finalists. Committee discussion settled on Meadowbrook as the top choice because of its local, place-based connection to the Meadowbrook area between Snoqualmie and North Bend. Other finalists included Mountain View School and Valley Bridges; committee members raised concerns that "Mountain View" is already widely used elsewhere in the state.

Meredith told the board the staff conversation late in the process introduced the idea of adding "K‑12" to the name (Meadowbrook K‑12 School) to reflect the program’s range of services and graduation pathway; staff later favored Meadowbrook K‑12 School informally, though the motion presented to the board used Meadowbrook School. Board members discussed the practical effect of adding "K‑12" and cautioned that a formal grade‑range designation should be revisited should program enrollment or structure change.

A board member moved the name change; the record did not capture a named mover or seconder. The motion passed unanimously without recorded roll-call tallies. "Congratulations, Meredith," a board member said after the vote.
