District updates CSIP and outlines strategic-planning process with community committees

The Ozark R-VI School District superintendent updated the board on the district's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and outlined a strategic-planning process the district will complete this spring.

Superintendent (unnamed) said the CSIP retains the same strategies presented in October but now uses more frequently updated, actionable data so the plan becomes “a living document” that staff can review four times a year. The presentation emphasized replacing once-a-year measures—such as MAP scores that appear only annually—with data sources that give teams timely measures they can act upon.

The superintendent also said the district will begin a facilitated strategic-planning process with three groups: a steering team (primarily administrators), a larger strategic team (a cross section of staff and stakeholders) and a board team. The facilitator will guide each group through exercises on strengths, weaknesses and opportunities and then synthesize those inputs into district goals. The superintendent said the district aims to produce three to five major goals and break them into action plans and subcommittees by June or July.

Participation will be by invitation; the superintendent said community members already on an initial list will be contacted and that subcommittees would open to additional community members once the draft goals are set. The district plans social-media outreach and other communications to explain opportunities to serve.
