Raytown South staff honored for lifesaving response; district thanks trainers

The Raytown Quality School District recognized security officer Dalton DePaul and nurse Julian Rose at its March 10 board meeting for performing life-saving measures during a medical emergency at Raytown South High School.
At the meeting district leaders said the two staff members acted quickly during an emergency on Friday and their teamwork helped save a student’s life. A presenter said the district recently became certified as an "Adam district" and thanked Melissa Tanner and others for training staff; the presenter said that training contributed to the successful response. No patient-identifying details were given at the meeting.
"There's nothing worse than getting the phone call that there's a student in distress and knowing from the medical professionals that because of your actions, you saved a life," the superintendent said, thanking the staff members and the district trainers. The district said because the incident occurred only days earlier it did not have a video to show at the meeting.
The board presented certificates and public thanks to DePaul and Rose. The district said further documentation (such as incident reports) would be handled through normal administrative and privacy procedures.
