Teacher and community members clash over district gender-protocol policy during public comment

She urged the committee to reopen discussion of the policy and to examine research she cited alleging harms associated with treatments for gender dysphoria; she said she and others want the district to "delve into the research" and hold further conversation.
Karen Pringle, who identified herself as a resident of Third Street and asked the committee to maintain the current gender-protocol policy, told the board the policy is "appropriate" and "rooted in scientific data" and that it exists for reasons she characterized as protective of students.
The committee did not take action on the policy at the meeting. Several members later thanked speakers for bringing forward viewpoints and noted the importance of following established policy and procedures for any formal policy reconsideration.
