State gaming revenue rises in February; Live Casino Bossier grand opening boosted collections

Donna Jackson of the Louisiana State Police Gaming Audit Section reported to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board on March 20 that February 2025 gaming activity produced higher adjusted gross receipts and increased state collections in several categories.

Jackson reported that 15 operating riverboat casinos generated adjusted gross receipts (AGR) of $149,739,859 in February; the state collected $32,194,070 in fees for that month. Jackson told the board that the Live Casino in Bossier City held its grand opening on Feb. 13 and produced about $7,400,000 in AGR in 16 days of operation.

Fiscal‑year‑to‑date adjusted gross receipts for the fiscal year she labeled "24–25" were reported at $1,140,000,000, an increase of $22,900,000 (about 2%) from fiscal year 23–24 to date; Jackson said the state had collected $245,000,000 in fees for fiscal year 24–25 as of Feb. 28, 2025.

Other figures Jackson presented: - Caesars New Orleans gross gaming revenue for February: $30,664,561 (an increase of $12,500,000, or 68.5%, from the prior month and $6,850,000, or 28.8%, from the same month last year). The state received $4,986,301 in minimum daily payments during February. - Slots at the four racetracks combined generated adjusted gross receipts of $25,262,398 in February (up $1,900,000, or 8%, from January, but down about $2,400,000, or 8.8%, from February last year). State fees collected from those facilities totaled about $3,800,000 for the month. - Video gaming: 12,018 video gaming devices were activated at 1,387 locations; net device revenue for February was $63,063,471 (up about $5,000,000, or 9.2% from January, but down about $2,000,000, or 3.3% from last February). Fiscal‑year‑to‑date net device revenue was reported at $490,000,000 (a 0.2% increase from the prior fiscal year), with $148,600,000 collected in franchise fees year‑to‑date. - Sportsbooks: Retail sportsbooks accepted $25,500,000 in wagers in February, yielding net proceeds of $2,500,000 and about $276,000 in state taxes. Mobile sportsbooks accepted $355,700,000 in wagers, yielding net proceeds of $45,000,000 and approximately $6,800,000 in taxes paid to the state. - Daily fantasy sports: Gross revenues for February were reported as over $1,000,000 with net revenue of $126,700 and taxes of approximately $10,000.

Chairman Abare commented after the presentation: "February was certainly a healthy month, for our state and in, you know, due in large part to, the Super Bowl as well as the opening of a live casino in Bossier, and, we are extremely appreciative of that. Thank you, Ms. Jackson." Jackson answered board questions and the board moved on to licensing business.
