Senator Jerry Serino presented sponsor testimony for Senate Bill 110, which would designate the northbound and southbound lanes of State Route 2 between the western border of Lake County and the eastern border of Willoughby as the Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers Memorial Highway.
“With the passage of this bill, the Northeast bound and Southwest bound lanes of State Route 2 between the western border of Lake County and the eastern border of Willoughby will be known and marked as Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers Memorial Highway,” Serino said in testimony describing Sellers’ military service and sacrifice in Vietnam.
Serino recounted Sellers’ biography: born Aug. 28, 1945 in Euclid; drafted into the Army and serving with the 9th Infantry Division; killed in action June 19, 1967; and listed among the names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. He described discussions with Sellers’ son, who he said has worked with the senator’s office to seek the designation.
Committee members offered no questions during the hearing and the bill was recorded as receiving its first hearing; no committee vote or referral was recorded at the meeting.
The committee did not provide implementation dates, signage costs, or an administrative sponsor to install or maintain the memorial signs during the hearing.
