Controlling Board approves $51,000 feasibility study for Ohio Department of Health meeting space renovation

The State Controlling Board on April 7 approved item number 34, a $51,000 feasibility study submitted by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to evaluate renovating meeting and stakeholder-space near the entrance of ODH’s 246 Building.
Lisa Griffin, director of government affairs at ODH, told the board the department moved into the first floor of the 246 Building in February 2024 and is considering using that space for additional meeting rooms for employees and for public stakeholder meetings. On the question of whether the space is state-owned or leased, Griffin said she believes it is state-owned and offered to confirm.
Griffin said she understands the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) requires a feasibility study for the work. Representative Stewart asked whether a feasibility study was necessary and said she was concerned that the cost might appear large for renovating meeting space; Griffin and OFCC staff, the department said, can provide additional process detail if the board wants it.
The board approved the item by voice vote with no objections.
