DEW rules will be rated on September report card, agency tells JCAR

A Department of Education and Workforce official told the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review that rules discussed by the committee will take effect on the next school report card published in September and that districts have been collecting the data for two years.
A senator asked whether the rule provisions would be applied to the 2024–25 school year or the 2025–26 year. The DEW representative replied: “These will take effect on the report the next report card that comes out in September.” The official added: “They have been reported for 2 years now. So districts have been collecting these data, the department's been collecting the data, and they have seen their data for 2 years. This will be the first year that it's rated and part of their overall rating.”
Committee members were advised that the data collection has already occurred and that the September report card will be the first year in which those indicators are included in district ratings. There was no formal vote on the rule during the meeting; members were reminded to file witness slips when participating.
