The Mississippi Board of Education approved Feb. 20 a contract modification with the National Student Clearinghouse to extend contract terms and add funding, and it approved a package of Education Innovation and Research (EIR/ER) grant actions that brought the total under consistent terms and allowed cohort alignment and up to a 5 percent pay increase for grantees.
Dr. Gavin presented the contract modification from the Office of Chief Operations and said the action extends the existing National Student Clearinghouse agreement and adds funds to support the extension. The board approved the contract modification by voice vote.
On grant actions, the board approved 58 EIR/ER grant items, including 22 new grants, consolidating cohorts under consistent terms and authorizing an increase in pay up to 5 percent for participating grantees. MDE staff said the action aligns grant cohorts and standardizes terms across the program.
Board members approved the grant and contract items on the consent agenda by motion and voice vote; specific dollar amounts and individual grantee names were included in the board packet but not read into the record during the meeting.
