Data Governance Committee: MSIS 2 work continues; accreditation edits referred to commission

Deborah Donovan, Data Governance Committee chair, said the committee is more than halfway through the school year and districts are actively working on personnel data for the Mississippi Student Information System (MSIS 2). She reported that accreditation edits are running in MSIS and that the committee moved a possible suspension of review of certain data from MSIS to the accreditation commission; the next step is referral of that motion to the Board of Education for a final decision.
The committee will review the accreditation edits and the related MSIS business rules to identify adjustments and to communicate requirements to districts for the coming school year. Donovan said vendors are currently working on discipline-data feeds and that end-of-year submissions remain on the schedule, including special education, federal programs and academic records (diplomas and endorsement types).
Donovan described the review as an internal data-governance step to ensure business rules and reporting align before districts submit final data. The committee did not adopt new policy during the report; it affirmed continuing review and follow-up with the Board of Education on the accreditation matter.
The committee recorded the update and will await the Board of Education’s decision before making further changes to MSIS reporting guidance.
