Agency on Aging reports stable Meals on Wheels delivery, requests CIP amendment for kitchen slicer

Carla Dimont, representing Flathead County's Agency on Aging, told commissioners that Nutrition and Independent Living services remained stable and asked the board to approve a CIP amendment to replace a food slicer whose useful life has ended.
Dimont reported the agency is averaging 9,841 meals per month at the six-month mark of FY25. She said November meal production was 9,055 and December was about 9,681, and that the holiday schedule explained the December dip. Meals on Wheels saw a combined attrition of 26 clients during November and December and added 30 new clients; Dimont said the program's running unduplicated count is 462 and the average active client count is 367.
Dimont said independent-living services (homemaker, transportation, companionship, respite) currently serve 53 clients and that respite is the only in-home service without a wait list. She cautioned that expansion of in-home services depends on availability of personal-care attendants and that current independent-living utilization is about 37% of the target reflected in the agency's performance measures.
On benefits counseling, Dimont reported that SHIP counselors helped clients realize an estimated $90,000 in Part D drug-plan savings and $209,375 in other benefit savings during open enrollment work.
On fundraising and volunteers, Dimont said community donations helped provide holiday gift bags for Meals on Wheels recipients, and several community groups pledged continued support. She said the agency has recruited roughly 10 to 12 new drivers in recent months.
Budget and CIP request: Dimont said the requested kitchen slicer purchase was not on the original CIP because the need was not predictable; the agency will use federal carryover funds (not ARPA) to cover the cost. She estimated federal carryover available through 2026 could be in the $300,000 to $400,000 range, depending on how expenses play out; commissioners approved the CIP amendment on a voice vote.
