County approves bids and solicitations for Road & Bridge equipment and chemicals

Flathead County commissioners on Jan. 30 approved several Road and Bridge procurement actions: authorization to publish a competitive fixed-bid (CFB) for a dump-box hydraulic system and awards for the county’s annual road-chemicals contracts.
A county representative asked permission to publish an invitation to bid for installation of one dump-box hydraulic system for a newly purchased 60,000 GVWR cab chassis. Commissioners authorized the publication of the CFB by motion and voice vote.
Road Department staff also presented the recommended awards for annual chemicals used in road maintenance. The county received the following low bids and the board approved awards as recommended:
- Propane delivery: City Service Valcon (delivery bid $0.369 per gallon). The county pays a daily rack price for propane product; the bid covers delivery only. - Asphalt (PG 64-22 likely selection): Calumet (Great Falls) low bidder at $624.71 per ton for the specified product. Staff noted this price is lower than last year. - Chipping oils: Idaho Asphalt Supply was low bidder; CRS-2P regular chipping oil at $720 per ton and cationic high-float at $741 per ton (staff noted they expect to use the CRS-2P product). - Gas and diesel delivery: City Service Valcon was the sole bidder for delivery (county pays daily rack price for fuel product).
Commissioners approved the awards and the authorization to publish the CFB by voice votes. Staff said award letters and tally sheets are part of the procurement record.
