Flathead County commissioners on April 1 approved a CIP budget amendment requested by the sheriff’s office to purchase one Motorola portable radio using funds that became available under a Stonegarden grant.
Undersheriff Nick Saloway told the commission the request moves one Motorola portable radio into the fiscal year 02/2025 CIP budget that was originally tied to a 02/2020 line item for the Stonegarden grant. Saloway said the funding “just became open for us to buy the 1 portable” and asked the commission to amend the CIP accordingly.
A commissioner moved and a second carried the motion; commissioners approved the CIP amendment by voice vote. Saloway thanked the board after the motion carried.
The transcript did not record a vendor procurement process, model number, specific radio cost, or whether the radio purchase requires additional approvals. The approval was a procedural budget amendment to allow the sheriff’s office to use the available grant funds for the purchase.
