Administrator says Port Chester school traffic study approved; village working on budget and monitoring high utility rates

In the administrator’s report at the Feb. 25 meeting, village staff said the Port Chester School District approved the traffic, parking and pedestrian study the village had discussed in prior months, allowing Rye Brook to issue a request for proposals and proceed toward a formal study.
Administrator Chris said the study will focus on areas around the middle school and possibly the high school; if both entities proceed, costs would be split with the school district and staff will evaluate responses to an RFP before deciding whether to move forward. Trustees said they expect solutions to involve both school and village actions.
Chris also reminded the board that the village budget is due March 20 and staff are in the process of preparing department presentations and line‑item reviews. He noted the village has received inquiries and resident concern about high Con Edison rates; trustees and staff have participated in lobbying and outreach at higher levels in an effort to limit increases.
The administrator closed by reminding residents that the village election is March 18 and urging turnout for local races and governance matters. The board announced its next meetings on March 11 and March 25, 2025.
