Trustees approve FY24-25 budget adjustments to record CHIPS highway aid, close completed projects and fund generator repair

The Rye Brook Board of Trustees on March 25 approved a set of fiscal year 2024-25 budget modifications to record state highway aid, restate road resurfacing capital projects, close completed capital projects and authorize transfers for repairs and program expenditures.
Staff said New York State CHIPS (Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program) funds totaling $55,448 were received and must be recorded as revenue and appropriation to be used for road resurfacing and related programs. The board approved restating the road resurfacing capital project to incorporate those funds.
Trustees also authorized closing capital projects with no remaining balances, including the stationary license plate reader project and the sanitary sewer relining and manhole rehabilitation project, to provide clean schedules for auditors. The board approved several general fund transfers, including contingency transfers, and authorized modifications to record increased parks and recreation revenue and matching appropriations.
Staff noted a specific repair need: the generator at AJP requires a new controller with an estimated cost of about $6,600; the board approved a contingency transfer to fund that repair.
Trustees voted in favor of the budget modifications. The administrator framed the item as accounting and housekeeping steps required ahead of audit close-out and year-end.
