Trustees award school-bus contract for recreation trips to First Student; County Coach wins coach-bus bid

Village staff reported bids were publicly advertised and opened; First Student submitted the lowest responsible bid for school buses at $42,009.60. J & R Tours failed to include a required bid bond or certified check; as a result County Coach was determined the lowest responsible bidder for coach buses with a bid of $5,007.25.
Staff said the awards represent a savings compared with last year and noted operational planning will include use of a senior bus on certain days. Trustees directed staff to verify vendor addresses listed in bid documents (an address spelling query for First Student was raised in the meeting). The mayor and administrator are authorized to execute contract documents and any required administrative steps.
The resolution carried unanimously: Trustee Epstein — yes; Trustee Fisher — yes; Trustee Heizer — yes; Trustee Merlino — yes; Mayor Klein — yes. Staff said contracts will be executed and vendors notified so summer recreation trips and camp transportation can be scheduled.
