Williamsville approves purchase of two LUCAS devices after state grant; fire department appointment, surplus sales authorized

The Village of Williamsville on March 24 approved purchasing two LUCAS automated CPR devices and associated capnography equipment for the Hutchinson Hose Company using village capital reserve funds, to be reimbursed when grant money is received.
The purchase was approved by a board resolution after staff reported the village had secured $125,000 in grant funding through state Assemblywoman Karen McMahon's office for the devices. The village will budget the $125,000 from its fire department capital reserve and seek reimbursement when the grant funds arrive.
The move followed a grants update in which staff said the village had submitted roughly $260,000 in reimbursements and had secured local funding for the LUCAS devices. Trustee discussion referenced discounted pricing that would expire at the end of March.
The board also approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign the 2025 fire and EMS contracts as adopted by the Hutchinson Hose Company. Separately, trustees voted to appoint Jacqueline Connolly of Williamsville as an active member of the Williamsville Fire Department, effective April 1, 2025.
Finally the board passed a resolution authorizing the Hutchinson Hose Company to sell identified surplus vehicles and equipment as part of its vehicle-replacement program; the resolution did not specify sale prices.
The resolutions passed during the March 24 meeting and were recorded as approved by voice vote (board recorded "Aye").
The LUCAS devices are intended for use by the volunteer department; the purchase will be charged to the department's capital reserve and reimbursed when the grant reimbursement is processed.
