The panel discussed the contents of the arrest reports and Rand’s account that a nephew had the items without his knowledge. Sergeant James Lee of the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center told the panel the nephew had no disciplinary problems while detained. Despite Rand’s explanation, the chair said the reports did not line up with his account.
Cheryl Renata announced she found Rand guilty of violating condition 4 (drug-related allegations), condition 5 (possession of a firearm), and condition 10 (failure to pay supervision fees) and voted to revoke his parole. The other panelists concurred. The panel concluded the hearing at about 08:50.
The panel record indicates the revocation was based on the written arrest reports and the parole revocation questionnaire submitted by Rand. No motion language or statute citation was read into the record at the time of the vote.
Rand remains in custody pending the Department of Corrections’ next administrative steps.
