Summerset planning board swears in two members and elects chair, vice chair

Two newly appointed members of the Summerset Planning and Zoning Board were sworn in and the board elected its officers during the board’s Feb. 11 meeting.
Bernie Oldfield and Casey Kendrick were each sworn in to three-year terms on the planning and zoning board. The oath — administered as part of the meeting’s opening business — included commitments to support the U.S. Constitution and the constitution of the state of South Dakota and to “faithfully and impartially” perform the duties of the office.
The swearing-in set the stage for nominations for board leadership. Members nominated and approved a motion to elect (by unanimous voice vote) a board chair and a vice chair. The motion to close nominations and confirm the nominees passed by voice vote. The board then turned to the regular agenda.
