Perrysburg council approves multiple emergency measures: fire station remodel, camera lease, firearms purchase, paving and downtown project contracts

Council also awarded a resurfacing contract to Gherkin Paving Inc. for the 2025 annual pavement resurfacing project (Resolution 36-2025) in an amount not to exceed $1,720,519.88, including the requested 5% contingency. The downtown streets project (phase 1) was awarded to B & J Concrete and Construction Company (Resolution 38-2025); the bid and contract amount was read into the record and approved as an emergency measure.
The Safety Committee reported on three related items before council: (1) the FLOC Falcon ALPR system (the division currently has 15 cameras and staff proposed synchronizing contracts so all cameras renew on the same two-year cycle); (2) purchase of new duty handguns and trade-in of older weapons (staff said traded guns would return approximately $19,260 credit toward the new purchase and that the weapons being traded are typically 6+ years old); and (3) a requested contract modification with the architecture firm on Station 38 HVAC fixes and remediation of contaminants in sleeping quarters, which committee recommended to council.
Council also approved a special-approval use for Forte Music School at 210 East South Boundary Street (Ordinance 15-2025), appointed Patrick Archman to the Historic Landmarks Commission (filling a term through 12/31/2027), and approved a long list of clerical code amendments and housekeeping ordinances (Ordinances 17–67 consolidated).
Other committee-recommended measures forwarded and approved included a Clark Mosquito Control Products purchase (Resolution 35-2025) for mosquito insecticide (the committee discussed a $58,520 requirement for the season), a resolution declaring certain public-service equipment surplus (Resolution 37-2025), and a cost-sharing agreement with Perrysburg Township for resurfacing partial segments of 5 Point Road and Echo Junction Road.
