Council adopts resurfacing contract, hazardous-materials grant and policing contract amendments

Council Member Neugebauer, chair of the finance committee, said the fire division requested $9,150 from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to fund outside hazardous-materials training for breathing-apparatus use; he moved to adopt resolution 2025-R09 and the motion passed on a roll call vote of members recording yes votes for Neugebauer, Davidis, Miller, Noble and Maker.
The council also adopted 2025DashR08, the resurfacing contract for the 2025 program. The lowest responsive bid for the contract was $646,007.25 with an alternate for Comet Lane at $75,762.20, for a combined amount of $721,769.45. The motion to adopt 2025DashR08 passed on a roll call in which council members on the dais recorded yes votes.
In Public Safety committee business that came to council, members approved two contract amendments with the Summit County Sheriff—s Office: 2025-R10, a supplement addressing credits and allocations in the policing contract for the period indicated in the legislation, and 2025-R11, adding insurance coverage that names the city as an additional insured. Both measures were moved by the public-safety committee and passed on roll-call votes with the council members present recorded as voting yes.
