Mayor Van Kirk reported that the city received four bids for work at Veterans Memorial Park and that the low bidder, Action Construction, and alternates all came in under budget. The mayor said Action Construction’s earliest start date is listed as March, though the city had not finalized a firm construction start date at the meeting.
Van Kirk said the final design proposal for the new recreational facility is complete and that, after review by the law director, the agreement will be signed; the city is anticipating an interior and exterior construction start late this fall for the natatorium. He also said contract documents for the planned dog park are nearly finalized and the plan is to go out to bid within one to two weeks.
The mayor reported the city has applied for and received a county grant to crack-seal several roads; he noted Ridge Road likely will not be included this year because the water department has planned work there. He also said the city plans to upgrade traffic signals, with Ridge Road and Brook Park an early priority, and that ODOT plans to redo I-480 exit ramps starting next month per its schedule.
Council members asked for more detail about which roads the grant will cover and the dollar amounts; the mayor said the grant was broken down by road and that he did not have the dollar total available in the meeting but had the full grant information in his office. No formal council action was taken on the park contracts or signal upgrades at the meeting; city staff will return with timeline and contract documents for approval as needed.
